Blizzard 2011

Last Tuesday we received the greatest snow storm we have had in awhile. The weather man told us this storm was coming, and we were prepared for it. I don't know what our final amount of snow turned out to be, but I know that it was a lot. We had snow drifts up to James Sr. thighs. One snow drift along the garage was about 5 foot high. Along with the snow was the bitter cold. The children didn't understand why I wouldn't let them go out very long when I did let them go out. I have enjoyed the snow. Haylea and Isaiah finally went back to school today after having a week off, yesterday was a planned day off already. James Jr. learned his Articles of Faith for his Faith In God. Carl, Haylea, and Isaiah learned the first three. We played, watched movies, made some cookies, did Haylea and Adalyns hair, and grew tired of being inside. We finally ventured out when I started going crazy. I have enjoyed the time that we spent together as a family. The little ones have enjoyed playing in the snow. And we are expected to get more tonight and tomorrow. I love the winter.

Isaiah turns 6

Isaiah turned 6. I can't believe that the time has flown by. He wanted a Pokemon cake for his birthday. I told him that he had to pick an easy one that I could do on my own. It sure was an easy one. For dinner he asked for salmon. Oh am I glad that he likes salmon. I think he ate 3 pieces. But he is worth it.

Isaiah is an amazing little man. He wants to do everything that his brothers do. He gets sad when they go somewhere without him. He is in kindergarten this year and is doing very well. I think that he will be one smart cookie. He likes to build with Legos, and play with his Nerf gun. When Isaiah is tired he is the only one of my children that will go lay down. He also is up early in the morning. He will quietly play a computer game until it is time to get everyone else up. Isaiah loves to give hugs. Everyone loves his big brown eyes, and being around him. I am so glad that he is part of our family.

A little giggle from mom

So I am going to post about Isaiah's birthday soon, but I have to write about this.

I have never been in a house with a boy of the ages 10-12. I grew up with my sister. And I was married when Devin was this age, so I don't remember him going through this.

Last Sunday in singing time in Primary I noticed that James Jr.'s voice was cracking. I never noticed before. He loves to sing, and does so loudly. I love listening to him.

As the week progressed I noticed that his voice was sounding as if he is sick. Oh how I love it. My oldest, who will be 12 in a few weeks, is growing up. He isn't little anymore. But I don't mind. He is wonderful. But every time that I hear him talk funny I just get a little smile on my face and giggle. I am loving it. I just can't picture my little James with a deep voice. I wonder if will be as deep as his fathers. I guess we will wait and see.

Well here we are. It has been so long sine I have written anything. I came up withe very excuse in the world. Then I realized that they are not excuses, they are my life. We have been so busy around here, that I feel as though the days and weeks fly by. So I will give a short recap of the things have have gone on since June.

June

James and I both celebrated our birthdays.

Baseball, baseball and more baseball. I really enjoyed this time. All four of the older children played ball. We were at the field Tuesday, Friday and Saturday and sometimes Monday for a practice. Sometimes we were at two different ball fields. We were busy but I wouldn't have traded it for anything.

July

Carl turned 10 on the 13th. We celebrated by going to state.

Both boys made the all-star team. James played in Columbus and Carl in Coffeyville on the same weekend. It is a good 30-40 minute drive between both towns. We managed. James team came in 4th in districts. They all played well. After a nail biting, rain delayed game Carl's team won and went to state. We went the following weekend to Wellington Kansas and had a great time there. Carl played catcher, and outfield. He caught a ball that was hit to center field and earned the WOW award. His team came in 3rd place. We were all really hot and ready to come home.

August

Adalyn turned 2.

We started school. Since Haylea and Isaiah didn't want to sit still to learn to read, I decided that they were going to public school. They both have wonderful teachers, and are loving every minute of it.

September

We continued on with our school work. Everyone is doing great.

October

More school work, church activities, scouting and anything else that was done.

November

Haylea turned 7.

James and I celebrated our 13th anniversary.

December

James finished up his semester of school.

Adalyn decided that she wanted to go potty in the toilet. She is doing very well at this.

We went to Lawerence to have some testing for James.

Chirstmas. We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas this year with both of our families.

James Sr. and I were sick most of the Christmas break. It wasn't fun.

January

Isaiah turns 6 tomorrow.

We are still plugging away at school.

We have had a couple of snow days. This has been fun. But Haylea and Isaiah would rather be at school.

That is our life in a nutshell. We are staying busy and loving life.
